GODSPELL COMES TO 4TH STREET THEATER
4th Street Theater announces its upcoming production of the beloved musical, Godspell—2012 Revised Version. The show will run from November 1st to November 24th at 4th Street Theater, 125 N. Fourth Street in Chesterton.
Directed by Michael Glorioso of Valparaiso, this production brings to life the timeless parables of the Gospel according to Matthew through a compelling blend of songs, dances, and storytelling. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and book by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell has charmed audiences worldwide with its unique take on the bible verses. The 2012 revision infuses the classic score with contemporary arrangements and orchestrations, making the show more vibrant and accessible than ever before, adding new life to classic songs like “Day by Day”, “Prepare Ye”, and “Beautiful City.”
"We are excited to present this fresh adaptation of the classic musical that has resonated with audiences for decades," said Michael Glorioso, Director. "Our cast and crew have poured their hearts into this production, and we can't wait to share it with our community." The show is music and vocal directed by Katelyn Leonard-White, with choreography by Andrew Glorioso. Costumes are created by Stanlee Hodsden and sets by Kevin Doler. Lighting is designed by Angela Heid.
The cast features a talented ensemble of local actors, including Connor O’Dell of Valparaiso as Jesus and Jason Utesch, also of Valparaiso, as Judas/John the Baptist. They are joined by a dynamic group of local performers who bring each parable to life with their energy and enthusiasm. Each actor brings a fresh and unique perspective to their character, playing a crucial role in delivering the musical’s uplifting message of hope, love, and community. Live music is performed by a talented ensemble, creating an immersive experience that promises to engage audiences from start to finish.
According to Executive Producer, Sandra Assarian, “4th Street Theater has a mission of diversity that includes classic plays and musicals and compelling new works that make you think and laugh in the intimacy of our 50-seat venue. “For nearly 25 years, we have provided a platform for local talent and fostered a love of the arts through diverse productions and educational programs.”
North Coast Cultural Association and 4th Street Theater (a not-for-profit all volunteer organization), is supported by grants from Illinois Arts Commission through South Shore Arts and National Endowment for the Arts and from Porter County Community Foundation, several other Foundations and Trusts, and the kind generosity of individual patrons.
